I am a desert.
Empty
and nearly devoid of life,
deserts are spiritual places.
Few go there. No one
stays long.

No one
enters the desert with a small story.
They seek sanctuary,
in the quiet,
shadowless plane of another world.

The purity of the desert is
its perfection;
constantly distilled and cleansed,
by the sun, and the heat, and the bitter cold
of the night.
And when it rains,
it floods,
washing away the memories.

The creatures that live there hide
underground
and listen.

Inhospitable, lonely, and
holy.
The beauty of life, and all existence,
is strongest felt there.

Nothing stays there for long.

God lives in the desert.
